Stephen Ministry: Stephen Ministry offers one-to-one confidential care and support for people experiencing life difficulties such as the death of a loved one, job crisis, aging, separation or divorce, long4erm illness, or for those needing the support of a Christian friend. Each Stephen Minister (the care giver) receives 50 hours of intensive training covering topics such as effective listening, confidentiality, the stress of hospitalization, feelings, and utilizing community resources.

Founded in 1975 in neighboring St. Louis, the mission of Stephen Ministries is to help congregations equip God's people for spiritual growth and Christcentered, practical ministry in today's worid. Today over 9,000 congregations through the efforts of more than 300,000 trained care givers offer Stephen Ministry as part of their congregational care programming.

Since its inception approximately one million people nationwide have been the formal recipients of the one-to-one care of Stephen Ministers, while millions of others have received the care of a Stephen Minister in a less formal way.
